Somerset Patriots Rout Camden Riversharks 12-3

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -  CAMDEN, NJ— The Riversharks lost their second game in a row to the Somerset Patriots Saturday—a loss that can be attributed to their pitchers’ lack of control more than timely Somerset hitting.

Camden starter Federico Baez, in his first effort for the Riversharks since being signed this week, lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing five earned runs on three hits and four walks.

Reliever Nate Buttenfield gave the Sharks more of the same after coming in in the third. Buttenfield allowed two earned on just one hit—and four walks.

Reliever Jeremy Lewis allowed four more runs on five hits—and just one walk.

By the end of the fifth inning, the Patriots had seven runs on just three hits.

Then, in the ninth, manager Joe Ferguson sent a special guest out to the hill: first baseman Kyle Nichols. Nichols allowed one run and walked three but was cheered for every, single strike he threw. There were not many.

On the offensive side, the Riversharks mustered three runs. The first came in the third when, down 5-0, Ron Davenport singled in Gabe Suarez.

The second and third runs came in the eighth on a Sheldon Fulse two-run double to left.

The series concludes tomorrow at 5:05 p.m.
