Atlantic City Surf Defeat Nashua Pride 4-2 - Can-Am League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Nashua, N.H. - The Atlantic City Surf took game two of the three game series against the Nashua Pride, 4-2, behind starting pitcher J.C. Huguet’s (5-1) seven inning performance, in which he gave up two runs, on two hits, one walk and two strike outs.

The Surf withstood a near Pride rally in the bottom of the ninth, as right hander Walker Whitley left the tying runs in scoring position to end the game, earning his first save of the season, allowing a hit and walk while picking up a strike out in the ninth.

 

Atlantic City first baseman Eddie Kim was 1-for-4 in the game with a two run double in the fifth inning, finishing the game 1-for-4 with two RBI. Third baseman Gil Zayas was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Surf, while teammate Josh Burrus ended the night 2-for-4 with a run scored.

 

Left fielder Billy Kovatch also added an RBI for Atlantic City and made a diving catch in the bottom of the eighth inning to take away extra bases from Nashua’s Ismael Castro with two men on is scoring position in a 4-2 game.

 

Pride starting pitcher Nicolas Suero suffered the loss, going seven innings, giving up four runs (three earned), on seven hits, one walks and three strike outs.

 

Nashua first baseman Bryan Duplissie hit a home run in his third consecutive game, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI. Left fielder Dennis Abreu also homered in the game, his sixth of the season, he finished 1-for-4 with an RBI.

 

The Pride and Surf will wrap up their three game series on Wednesday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua send right hander Jarrett Stawarz to the mound.
