Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11:33AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, PA-Sportsticker, has selected Sioux Falls Canaries 3B Grant Richardson and Grand Prairie AirHogs RHP Kieran Mattison as the B45 Batter and Pitcher of the Month for June.

Richardson had a tremendous month of June for the first half North Division Champions. The Richland, WA resident batted .370 with five home runs, 23 RBI, 37 hits and 26 runs scored. He also hit seven doubles and a triple, slugged .610 and had a .459 on-base percentage. Richardson is currently hitting .364 on the season with seven home runs, 40 RBI, 43 runs scored and 64 hits. He is the leading the league in runs scored, tied for first in hits, second in on-base percentage (.452) and tied for second in RBI. Richardson was just recently named the league's Batter of the Week.
The 25-year-old Richardson was selected in the 14th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004. Last season for the Coastal Bend Aviators of the American Association, he hit .301 with eight home runs and 55 runs driven in.
Mattison was stellar during June going 4-0 with 0.91 ERA in five starts for Grand Prairie. In 29 2/3 innings pitched, the 28-year-old allowed three earned runs, seven walks and 15 hits while fanning 21 batters. Mattison is 6-1 on the year with an earned run average of 2.10 in nine starts. He is second in the league in ERA and tied for third in wins.
The Dallas, TX resident was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Kansas City Royals in July of 2002. Mattison spent a year plus with the Royals organization before being traded to the Cleveland Indians in 2003. The last two seasons, he has been with independent clubs including Sioux City, Calgary and the Road Warriors.
