Kansas City T-Bones Power Past Winnipeg Goldeyes 7-2

WINNIPEG, Mb. – The Kansas City T-Bones used a pair of three-run home runs tonight to take game two of a three-game set, 7-2, over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Canwest Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
 
After a rain delay of one hour and 37 minutes pushed the start of the game back, neither team scored until Kansas City opened up for three runs on four hits against Zach Baldwin in the third.  After two singles and a fielder's choice started the frame, Bo Hart collected the T-Bones' second inside-the-park home run of the season to give Kansas City the only lead of the contest.
 
Demetrius Heath answered for Winnipeg with an RBI single off Anthony Snow in the bottom of the inning to pull the Goldeyes within two.  Both teams went without a run over the fourth and fifth frames before the T-Bones used another three-run blast, this time of the conventional variety from Craig Hurba to take a 6-1 lead.
 
Snow lasted six innings for Kansas City, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out six and walking three in the victory.  The outing marks just the second time in the right-hander's short career that he finished at least six innings.
 
Kansas City plated their final tally on an RBI single from Jim Fasano in the seventh to gain a six-run advantage.  It marked Fasano's league-leading 61st RBI of the season.  Baldwin left after six-plus innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits in a losing effort.
 
The Goldeyes scored their second run off Payton Tweddale in the seventh when an RBI double by Heath pushed the score to 7-2.  Brady Martinez relieved Tweddale in the eighth with two on and nobody out.  He would face just two batters in the

frame, striking out both while using a strike-out, throw-out double play to end the threat.
 
Martinez allowed one run on two hits in the ninth to finish the game for the T-Bones.  Heath drove in all three runs for Winnipeg in the contest, finishing three-for-four with a walk to pace the Goldeyes.
 
Greg Jacobs went four-for-five in the contest to continue his tear through the Northern League.  He has now collected multiple hits in six of the eight games he has appeared in since rejoining Kansas City.  Max Poulin singled in the ninth for Winnipeg, marking his 609th career hit as a Goldeye to set a new franchise record in that category.
 
The two teams face off again tomorrow afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game set.  Chris Rhoads will take the mound for Kansas City opposite Ace Walker for the Goldeyes.  First pitch is scheduled for noon.
