Clegg Snipes had a great outing for the Pensacola Pelicans leading the way to their first win of the second half. Snipes allowed one run on seven hits while striking out seven and walking none to improve to 5-4 on the year. Pelicans 1B Brandon Sing continues to pound the ball. He was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, his 13th of the year. Pelicans LF Matt Pali also had a nice game. He was 3-for-4. Pensacola closer Dustin Cameron tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up his 12th save.

St. Paul 3, Sioux Falls 0

The St. Paul pitching staff kept Sioux Falls guessing all night long as they combined to allow just five hits en route to their second shutout win against the Canaries this year. Saints starting pitcher Mitch Wylie allowed all five Sioux Falls hits in six innings of work to notch his first win of the year. Closer Tony Pierce fanned two in a perfect ninth inning to record his ninth save. St. Paul DH Pichi Balet led the way offensively. He was 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

Lincoln used 11 hits from its offense and a solid outing from starting pitcher Jason Jarvis to improve to 1-1 in the second half. Jarvis, who earned his first win as a professional, allowed three runs on six hits and struck out three in 5 1/3 innings of work. Eight of the nine hitters in the Lincoln lineup recorded at least one base hit, led by 3B Shea McFeely who was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Despite allowing two runs in the ninth, Saltdogs reliever RD Spiehs held on to record his fourth save.

A total of four home runs powered the Shreveport Sports to victory against Fort Worth at home. Sports RF Adam Hale hit one of those home runs and was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead the way offensively. DH Justin Humphries, C Tommy Bryant and 3B Bobby Bratton also homered for the Sports. Shreveport collected 13 hits in all in support of starting pitcher Justin Phillips. Phillips allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out nine in six innings of work to run his record to 3-5 on the year.

El Paso 3, Grand Prairie 2

It took El Paso until the top of the ninth inning to ward off Grand Prairie on the road, capping a back and forth battle. Both starting pitchers pitched well, but neither factored in the decision. Instead, it was Diablos reliever Brandon Hudson that picked up the win, his first of the year. Hudson tossed a perfect seventh and eighth before handing the ball over to Mike Cervera, who then picked up his sixth save. Diablos CF Kory Drew led the way at the plate. He was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
