Kansas City T-Bones Roll 3-1 over Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - FARGO, N.D. – For the first time since their final three games in May, the Kansas City T-Bones have won consecutive games with a 3-1 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks tonight at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D.

Both starters, Anthony Snow for Kansas City and Billy Weitzman for the RedHawks, held their opposition scoreless through the first two innings before each hurler surrendered a run in the third.  The T-Bones plated their first run of the contest on an RBI single from Rob Watson that scored Steve Trout, who reached with a one-out, ground-rule double.  Fargo answered with single from Joe Mathis that plated Zach Penprase, who also reached with a one-out double.

Kansas City retook the lead with a two-run seventh, scoring both runs on a double by Geoff McCallum off reliever Scott Koerber, who entered after Weitzman surrendered a leadoff double to Aharon Eggleston to begin the frame.  Weitzman fell to 1-1 after allowing two runs on six hits in six-plus innings.

The one run was all that the right-handed Snow would allow in his outing as he SeatSub Challenge 2008 Contest surrendered just four hits over six and two-thirds innings on his way to his second win of the season.  Snow got the first two outs in the bottom of the seventh before walking the next two batters.  He then gave way to Tag Horner, who induced a groundout from Boomer Berry after a walk to Mathis loaded the bases.

Horner faced two batters in the eighth, striking out the second after an error allowed the first to reach and brought the tying run to the plate.  Brady Martinez entered to face new RedHawks acquisition, veteran Jimmy Hurst, striking him out before getting Steve Mortimer to ground out to end the threat.

David Trahan threw a perfect ninth, striking out the final batter he faced as he picked up his league-leading 11th save of the season.

The T-Bones and RedHawks face off again once more tomorrow night as Kansas City goes for their first sweep since a three-game set in Gary from May 19-21 earlier this season.  Fargo’s Dane Renkert will face Chris Rhodes who will make his first start of the year for the T-Bones.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
