Friday, October 30, 2009 at 07:47AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 29) -- The Orlando Titans of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have reached contract agreements with five players for the 2010 season, Head Coach Ed Comeau announced on Thursday.
In addition to signing free agents Angus Dineley, Chet Koneczny and Dan Cocchi; the Titans also came to contract terms with 2009 draft picks Ryan Learn and Ryan McCafferty.
Cocchi, a 5-11, 185-lb. defenseman, has the most professional experience. He has played the last seven summers in Major League Lacrosse, an outdoor professional league. Cocchi was a two-time All-America selection at Towson University in 2002-03.
Dineley played college lacrosse at Canisius College (NY) in 2004-07 and the University of Toronto (2008). Dineley still ranks fifth in the Canisius record book for career saves (306) and ranks fourth in school history for career save percentage (.528). The goalie is currently on the roster for Team Canada, which is scheduled to participate in the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in England.
A former draft pick of the Toronto Rock (NLL), Koneczny was on the Toronto Rock’s 2007 practice roster and played last season for both the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks in the Major Lacrosse Series and with Owen Sound in the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) Senior B League. A transition player, Koneczny was voted most valuable two-way player in the OLA last year.
Learn was a 5th round pick of the Titans (50th overall) in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft.
An indoor player from the Burlington Chiefs of the OLA, Learn was rated the 25th best prospect by Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
McCafferty, who attended Boone High School in Orlando, set NLL history last month by becoming the first Central Florida native to be drafted by an NLL team. A captain at Elizabethtown College (Pa.), McCafferty scored 41 goals last season in leading Elizabethtown to a 12-4 record.
