Buffalo Bandits Take Down the New York Titans to Earn Spot in NLL Championship Final

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – The Buffalo Bandits defeated the New York Titans Saturday night by a score of 19-12 in the East Division Final. Buffalo will play in the 2008 Edge NLL Championship Game on Saturday, May 17 at HSBC Arena. Their opponent has yet to be determined. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
 
Mark Steenhuis scored seven goals for the Bandits, setting a franchise record for most goals scored in a playoff game by a single player. John Tavares set the previous record of six goals in the 1992 Division Final against the Boston Blazers. Buffalo defeated Boston by a score of 22-16. Kevin Dostie scored three for the Bandits and posted two assists. Brett Bucktooth tallied three for Buffalo with one assist. John Tavares lit the lamp twice and tallied 10 assists. This is only the second time in his career that Tavares has recorded more than 10 points in a playoff game. Mike Accursi recorded five points (2+3). Kevin Dostie lit the lamp three times for Buffalo and finished with five points (3+2). Roger Vyse scored one for the Bandits and recorded five assists. Billy Dee Smith lit the lamp once a wraparound goal in the first quarter. Delby Powless. Cory Bomberry, Kyle Laverty and Phil Sanderson each tallied one assist.
 
Ken Montour made 41 saves on the night. The net minder allowed 12 goals off 53 shots on goal.
 
Ian Llord led Buffalo with 26 penalty minutes in the game.
