US Men's National Lacrosse Team Roster Finalized

BALTIMORE – US Lacrosse announced the final roster for the 2010 U.S. Men’s National Team today, and five Denver Outlaws graced the final list. Goalie Adam Fullerton (Army), attackmen Brendan Mundorf (UMBC) and Drew Westervelt (UMBC), midfielder Max Seibald (Cornell) and defenseman Eric Martin (Salisbury) all survived the cut from 41 players to the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL)-mandated size of 23. The cuts were made following three weekends of exhibitions and training camps in New York and Maryland. The US Men’s National Team will compete in the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England next year from July 14-24.

This will be the first appearance on the national team level for each of the five of the Outlaws players. Overall, there are five members left from the 2006 Team USA squad, including Ryan Boyle, Kevin Cassese, Ryan Powell, Matt Striebel and Kyle Sweeney. Boyle, Cassese and Striebel were also members of the gold medal-winning 2002 US National Team.

The complete roster is posted on the next page of this release.

The US Men’s National Team has won eight gold medals since beginning play in 1967, and saw just its second defeat in 2006 when the squad lost to Team Canada by a score of 15-10 (London, Canada). The first was a historic 17-16 overtime win by Canada in 1978 (Edgeley Park, Stockport).

First up for the 2010 team will be an appearance at the 2010 US Lacrosse National Convention in Baltimore, Md. January 15-17. The first competition for the squad will be at the 2010 Champion Challenge at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. Against Duke and Army (January 30-31).
