Interview with NLL Star Andrew Potter
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 06:53PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Name the National Lacrosse League player that has been involved in two blockbuster trades in two years? Give up? It’s Andrew Potter of the Rochester Knighthawks.
Potter is back in Rochester after being acquired in a three-player, three draft pick trade with the Colorado Mammoth on October 31st. He was acquired along with Gavin Prout and two first-round selections in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft for the rights of Ilija Gajic and Rochester’s first-round selection in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft.
“I am glad to be back in Rochester,” said the 21 year old. “I love that city.”

The St. Catharines, Ontario, native returns to the team that selected him in the first round of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. He brings with him more experience and scoring prowess, which was evidenced this summer with his Junior “A” scoring title.
“I really spent a lot of time learning from the guys in Rochester and Colorado,” he said. “I borrowed the skills and teachings they gave me and put them into my game.”
That formula produced 125 points (51+74) in 22 games this summer. He was also named to the All-Canadian Second Team by NLL Insider for his efforts. Now he heads back to Rochester after spending one season with the Mammoth. In 2008, he was traded to Colorado in the deal that brought Gary Gait out of retirement and into the Knighthawks’ lineup.
“It would be nice to get comfortable somewhere,” said Potter. “But I am proud to even be mentioned in a trade with Gavin Prout and Gary Gait.”
The 2010 season will mark Potter’s third season with his third team. In those two seasons, he has played in three games, but has two goals to his credit. He will come to training camp to show Owner and General Manager Curt Styres that he belongs on a team that includes Gait, Prout, John Grant, Scott and Shawn Evans, Joe Walters, Craig Point and a host of other high-profile offensive weapons.
“I want to win a championship,” said Potter. “The team in Rochester is stacked with the firepower on offense, defense and in net to take care of that.”
The Knighthawks’ quest for a third championship begins on Saturday, January 9th with an 8:05 p.m. game against the rival Buffalo Bandits at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.
