Orlando Titans Send Four to the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-ORLANDO, Fla.  (Nov. 3) --  US Lacrosse announced its final 23-man roster for the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships and the list includes four members of the National Lacrosse League’s  Orlando Titans.

Titans players Brendan Mundorf, Ryan BoyleMatt Zash and Stephen Peyser will represent Team USA at the world championships in Manchester, England on July 14-24.

“I want to congratulate the entire pool of players on their efforts, attitude and stellar play over three tremendous weekends this fall,” said Team USA head coach Mike Pressler. “Without question, this was the best way to go in this thorough and, at times, exhausting process. We feel these 23 men give us the best chance to win the gold at the 2010 world championship in Manchester.”

Boyle, who is third on the Titans all-time list for points scored (198), is making his third appearance in the world championships.  He was on the 2002 gold medal-winning USA team and was also a member of the 2006 team that won the silver.  Boyle is a six-year veteran of the NLL and has 306 points in 80 career games.

Mundorf is one of the rising young stars in the NLL after being a first round draft out of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in 2006.  He has 74 career goals and 75 assists (149 points) in just 43 career games for the Titans.

Peyser plays defense and was the Titans face-off specialist last season, where he won 239 or 370 attempts.  His 69.4% success rate on face-offs was the best in Titans history and second best in the NLL last year among players with 150 or more attempts.  He is a former two-time All-America selection at Johns Hopkins, where he won a pair of national championships.

Zash enter his fourth NLL season after a stellar career at Duke University.  He reached career highs last year in assists (10), points (11) and loose balls (79).

The FIL World Championships are held every four years.  Since the first recognized world championship in 1967, the United States has won eight gold medals, including every gold medal awarded between 1982 and 2002.  Canada upset the United States at the 2006 World Championships.
