Jacksonville Suns Big 7th Inning Enough to Beat Carolina Mudcats 5-3

MLN Newswire-Zebulon, NC --- Chin Lung Hu hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to break a 0-0 game to lead the Jacksonville Suns past the Carolina Mudcats 5-3 in the regular season finale at Five County Stadium on Monday afternoon.

The Suns scored four times in the seventh inning to push the lead to 5-0.  Mudcats reliever Scott Nestor (L, 2-2) allowed all five runs over one-plus inning.

Alvis Ojeda (W, 7-3) earned the victory in relief of starter Ben Kozlowski, who pitched three scoreless innings.

Carolina cut the deficit to 5-1 in the eighth on a groundout by Ryan Bear, then scored twice in the ninth and brought the winning run to the plate against closer Mark Alexander before the rally was extinguished.

Bear and Lee Mitchell each had three hits in the finale to pace the Mudcats offense.

David Humen pitched five scoreless innings, fanning six in his Double-A debut, filling in for Jose Garcia, who was promoted to the major leagues following Sunday night's game.
