Richmond Braves Win 5-4 over Charlotte Knights

MLN Newswire-Ft. Mill, SC - Wes Timmons belted two homers and collected four RBIs as visiting Richmond edged Charlotte, 5-4, on Monday afternoon at Knights Stadium. The Braves closed their season with a three game winning streak.

Timmons hit a two-run dinger in the first inning and a solo shot in the sixth. The 27-year-old third baseman also drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth. Carlos Mendez was the only other Richmond player to drive in a run, adding a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Ernie Young's two-run homer in the second put the Knights (79-62) on the board. Ruben Rivera went yard in the seventh, his 16th homer of the season.

Brian O'Connor (8-10) allowed four runs -- three earned -- on 10 hits over seven innings. Manny Acosta hurled two scoreless frames to nab his 17th save for the Braves (57-86). Charlotte starter Stephen Randolph (9-9) surrendered five runs -- three earned -- on four hits and five walks over seven innings while striking out seven. Dustin Hermanson and Paulino Reynoso each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
