Portland Beavers Release 14-Game Spring Training Schedule - PCL

MLN Newswire- www.mlntherawfeed.com - PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Beavers begin their 14-game spring training schedule Friday, March 16, against the Omaha Royals at the Surprise Recreation Campus in Surprise, Ariz., it was announced today.

The Beavers, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, make their spring training home at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Ariz. The Beavers will play seven “home” games at the team’s spring headquarters and seven “road” games over a two-and-a-half-week span leading into the 2007 regular-season opener at Fresno
on April 5.

San Diego’s minor league pitchers and catchers report to spring training March 2, while position players report March 9.

All 14 spring training games begin at 1 p.m.

The Beavers, who compiled a 68-76 record in 2006, conclude their spring schedule against the Nashville Sounds at Peoria Sports Complex on Saturday, March 31, and are scheduled to arrive in Portland on April 1
to conduct a series of workouts at PGE Park prior to the season opener.

Following an eight-game road trip to begin the season, the 2007 Beavers
, led by new manager Rick Renteria, will make their PGE Park debut Friday, April 13, taking on the Fresno Grizzlies in the first of an eight-game homestand to kick off the 72-game home schedule.
