MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – SARASOTA, Fla. -- Second baseman Travis Brown lined a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to give Norfolk a 5-4 victory over Indianapolis Sunday afternoon at Twin Lakes Park.
The game-winning base knock came after DH Luis Montanez roped a double and LF Kennard Jones, a former Indiana University star, drew a base on balls.
The Tribe forced a home half of the ninth with three runs in its final at-bat. RF Steve Pearce, 3B Neil Walker, DH Taber Lee, LF Jorge Cortes and C Milver Reyes all had singles, with Lee, Cortes and Reyes collecting one RBI apiece.
Tides RHP Ryan Keefer (1.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 SO) picked up the win despite allowing five base knocks in just one frame. Indians RHP Chris Hernandez (0.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 SO) was pinned with the loss.
Neither starter -- Norfolk LHP Garrett Olson (4.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) or Indianapolis RHP Mike Thompson (4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO) -- figured in the decision.
