The River Cats (5-6) avoided a sweep in their first series at home by pounding out 12 hits including a 3-for-5 performance by outfielder Danny Putnam. Sacramento broke a 5-5 tie with a 5-run sixth inning, highlighted by Jeff Baisley’s two-out, bases loaded double to drive in three runs. The organization’s top prospect, Carlos Gonzalez, hit his second home run of the season in the fifth inning. Left-handed reliever Jerry Blevins (1-0) earned the win in relief, throwing 1.1 innings without allowing a run or a hit.
