Notes: Mother Nature reared her ugly head tonight and cut the game between the Beloit Snappers and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in half. Luckily, the Snappers were able to hold off a late charge by the Rattlers, and claim the first game of the three-game set, 5-3.
The game got off to a quick start for Beloit, as Joe Benson and Steve Singleton delivered back-to-back homers to lead off the bottom of the first inning. The two blasts put the Snaps ahead 2-0 after one.
Beloit scored two more in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. The inning was highlighted by a Mark Dolenc RBI triple to right. Dolenc’s triple scored Ramon Santana, who was earlier hit by a pitch, from third base.
Greg Yersich added to the outburst with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. Yersich’s bomb gave the Snappers a commanding 5-0 lead after four.
