Lake County Captains Blow by Hagerstown Suns 14-7 - A, South Atlantic League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - EAST LAKE, OH – An eight-run bottom of the fifth inning paced the Lake County Captains’ (11-5) attack,
as the Hagerstown Suns (6-10) dropped their fourth straight game 14-7 at Classic Park in East Lake, OH.

With the wind blowing out in an already hitter-friendly park, the two teams combined to hit six home
runs, three for each team.

The Captains got the ball rolling early, as they scored three times in the bottom of the first inning to take
the lead, including one run off a solo home run by right fielder Matt Brown. The Suns battled back with
three runs off two home runs in the top of the second. Suns’ right fielder Michael Burgess hit his third
homer of the year, and three batters later third baseman Steven Souza hit his second with a runner
aboard, tying the game at three.

The lead did not last long, however, as Lake County DH Dustin Realini hit his first of two home runs in
the game on the first pitch in the bottom of the second inning. After the Suns battled back with another
solo home run, this by DH Francisco Plasencia, the wheels came off for the Hagerstown pitching staff.

Suns starter Brad Peacock and reliever Kai Tuomi combined to give up eight runs on nine hits with two
hit batsmen and a walk in the bottom of the fifth inning. Peacock (0-1) ended up with the loss, as he
was on the hook for nine of the runs scored in the game by Lake County.

Captains’ starter Santo Frias was also ineffective, allowing four runs, all of them earned in four and two
thirds innings of work. However, the Lake County bullpen was impressive, as Gary Campfield pitched
two and one third scoreless innings to earn the victory.
