Major League Pitcher Kevin Slowey to Wow the Home Crowd of the Fort Myers Miracle While on Rehab Assignment
Monday, April 21, 2008 at 11:42AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – FORT MYERS, FL (April 20, 2008)—The Minnesota Twins announced today that right-handed pitcher Kevin Slowey will start Monday night for the Fort Myers Miracle.
Slowey, on a minor league rehab assignment, is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right biceps muscle.
The Miracle host the Lakeland Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Slowey is expected to throw 50 pitches, or around three innings, in his outing.
After the start, Slowey will remain in Fort Myers and work out with the Gulf Coast League squad. He'll pitch for Fort Myers in Lakeland on Saturday, April 26 for his second outing, where he'll increase his pitch count to around 70 pitches.

ADVERTISEMENT The length of the rehab stint for Slowey is due to the fact that he has thrown a total of just 6 1/3 innings since March 29. He threw just three innings that day in his final Spring Training start and was limited to 3 1/3 innings on April 3, when he left his regular-season debut against the Los Angeles Angels with the biceps strain.
Slowey began the 2006 season with Fort Myers, and posted a 4-2 record with a 1.01 ERA. He didn’t allow a run in his last 28.2 innings pitched with the Miracle and was selected to the Florida State League All-Star Game.
