Tampa Yankees Game Highlights and Box Score - Adv A, Florida State League

(April 24, 2008) – On a early Education Day game Thursday afternoon, the Tampa Yankees would give the Fort Myers Miracle a taste of their own medicine pounding out a dozen hits in a 4-2 win at Steinbrenner Field. Tampa took advantage of three Miracle errors and received an outstanding start by Eric Hacker as the right-hander tossed seven innings, giving up two-unearned runs in the win.

A two-out double by James Cooper would begin the Yanks scoring in the first. After a Toby Gardenhire miscue at the second base bag, Seth Fortenberry two-hitters later made the Miracle pay with a run-scoring single to center. Catcher Kyle Anson then reached on the second-straight error by the shortstop allowing Edwar Gonzalez to plate with the unearned run.

The Miracle bounced right back taking advantage of a Tampa error in the second to help square things up at 2-2. Johnny Woodard started off by reaching on Damon Sublett’s fielding error, later coming around on a Wilson Ramos groundout to second. After Juan Portes reached with a double earlier in the inning, Rudy Palacios would bring him in collecting an RBI-single to right.

An RBI-single by Cooper in the Yankees fifth and eighth-inning run-producing single by Sublett would give the bad guys their final pair of runs on the day. Hacker only allowed four hits with a walk and three strikeouts in the victory. Closer Jonathan Hovis worked a perfect ninth for his third save of the year.
