Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 01:28PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - MOBILE, Ala. - Coming off a three-hit shutout, it was a tough night for the BayBears' pitching staff as they surrendered a season-high 10 runs on 13 hits in a 10-4 loss to the Mississippi Braves.
BayBears (10-12) starter Tony Barnette (1-3) mowed through the first two frames without issue, but in the third, Jason Perry smashed a two-out, three-run homer to put the Braves (5-17) on the board first.
Mississippi added a run in the fourth inning on a JC Boscan double while the BayBears answered in the bottom of the fourth as John Hester knocked in Rusty Ryal with a fielder's choice groundout. Barnette was removed in the seventh after allowing a triple and a single to start the inning against Mark Jurich and Matt Young. Young scored on a Kala Ka'aihue sac fly to make it 6-1.
With James Parr (1-2) out because of an injury after five innings, the BayBears' offense came to life in the bottom of the seventh with three runs, highlighted by a Yunesky Sanchez two-run single. The Braves put the game out of reach with four runs in the top of the ninth against reliever Mark Rosen.
