The Diamond Jaxx took advantage of nine walks issued by Smokies pitching.  Jeff Samardzjia suffered the loss, dropping his record to 2-2 on the season.  Samrdzjia never got anything going as the young righty went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits with six walks and three strikeouts.  Doug Deeds provided the offense for the Smokies with a two run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The middle game of the five game series takes place on Saturday night at 6:15 CDT.  Lefty Justin Thomas (0-2 4.76) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx.  Tennessee will counter with lefty Donnie Veal (1-0 3.18).
