West Tenn Diamond Jaxx Bounce Tennessee Smokies 12-2 - AA, Southern League
Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:15AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Sevierville, Tenn. - The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx continued their winning ways as they bounced the Tennessee Smokies 12-2 in game two of the five game series from Smokies Park. The win was the season high fourth in a row for the Diamond Jaxx and moved their record to 14-8, two games behind Chattanooga in the Northern Division.
Rich Dorman pitched six shutout innings to pick up the win. Dorman (3-1) allowed two hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Shawn Garrett had two hits and four RBI’s while Marshall Hubbard, Louis Valbuena and Prentice Redman drove in two runs each to pace the Diamond Jaxx twelve run, sixteen hit attack.

ADVERTISEMENT The Diamond Jaxx took advantage of nine walks issued by Smokies pitching. Jeff Samardzjia suffered the loss, dropping his record to 2-2 on the season. Samrdzjia never got anything going as the young righty went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Doug Deeds provided the offense for the Smokies with a two run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The middle game of the five game series takes place on Saturday night at 6:15 CDT. Lefty Justin Thomas (0-2 4.76) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with lefty Donnie Veal (1-0 3.18).
