(April 27, 2008) – Propelled by a four-spot in the bottom of the first inning, the Lakeland Flying Tigers were able to hand the Fort Myers Miracle their fourth-straight loss, an 8-3 decision on Sunday afternoon. For the second-consecutive night, the Flying Tigers received a nice outing from their starter as Matt O’Brien tossed into the seventh inning keeping the Miracle bats quiet at Joker Marchant Stadium.
The Flying Tigers sent eight hitters to the plate in their four-run, three-hit frame. Cale Iorg led off with an infield single to short while Justin Justice reached on a walk. Brennan Boesch brought in the first Lakeland run with his single to left, before Danny Valencia’s fielding error at third allowed Ryan Strieby to reach and Justice to score from third.

An RBI-single from James Skelton and fielder’s choice by Jeramy Laster would wrap up the lengthy first inning for the Miracle defense and starter Deolis Guerra. A two-out, two-run double by Laster in the third gave Lakeland a five-run cushion before the Miracle offense came around in the fourth.
After a Whit Robbins walk and Juan Portes single to center, Rene Tosoni would send both runners to scoring position for Edward Ovalle . Ovalle promptly chopped a single to left picking up the two RBI in a new 5-2 game. Three-straight lead-off hits by Lakeland in the sixth, capped by an RBI-double from Louis Ott , would chase Miracle starter Guerra from the game. Guerra ended his day tossing five-plus innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Iorg would bring in the second Flying Tiger run in the sixth with his sacrifice-fly to center before Justice’s single in the same spot brought in Ott for the last Lakeland run. Valencia chipped in with a RBI infield-single in the seventh giving the Miracle their third and final run of the afternoon. O’Brien tossed 6.1 innings in the win Sunday, allowing two runs on seven hits with a walk and pair of strikeouts.
