Tulsa Drillers Fall to Springfield Cardinals 7-3

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - A crowd of 7,077 fans was on hand Saturday night to  watch the Tulsa Drillers fall to the Springfield Cardinals by a  score of 7-3. Tulsa Starting Pitcher Brandon Hynick had his second  strong outing in a row, giving up just two runs on eight hits in his  six innings of work. Hynick also recorded 6 strike outs.
The Cardinals were led offensively by Bryan Anderson who finished 3  for 5 with 4 RBIs. Anderson's biggest hit of the night was a three- run double in the top of the eighth to put Springfield ahead for  good. Shane Robinson also contributed 2 RBIs on 3 hits including a  triple.

After a pitchers duel through three innings, the Drillers finally  broke through to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Daniel  Carte reached on an infield single and was later brought home on an  RBI single by Jeff Dragicevich.

The lead proved to be only temporary as the Cardinals scored two in  the top of the fifth. Casey Rowlett led off the inning with a double  and later scored on a triple by Shane Robinson. Bryan Anderson  followed the triple with an RBI single of his own scoring Robinson.

The Drillers evened the score up at two when Chris Nelson doubled  home Dexter Fowler who had previously reached on a double of his  own. The lead was regained by the Drillers when Daniel Carte hit a  bouncing ball back to the mound. Cardinal pitcher Cory  Rauschenberger elected to throw Carte out at first allowing Nelson  to score from third.

The back and fourth game continued in top of the seventh when the  Cardinals tied the game at three. Mark Shorey started the scoring  for the Cards by lining a 3-2 Hynick fastball to right-center for a  double. Shane Robinson followed the double with a single of his own  moving Shorey to third. The next batter, Bryan Anderson, grounded  into a double play but still managed to score Shorey from third.

The Cardinals retook the lead with four runs in the top of the  eighth for the fourth lead change of the night. After With two outs  and Jon Jay at second base, Jarrett Grube came in for the Drillers.  Grube struggled with his control, forcing in the go-ahead run with  three straight walks. Bryan Anderson then made Grube pay for his  control problems with a bases-clearing double.

The 7-3 lead was too much for the Drillers to overcome as they fell  to the Cardinals for the second night in a row. The loss cut Tulsa's  first-place lead in the North Division standing to only one game.

Tulsa second baseman Eric Young Jr. left the game prior to the  fourth inning with a wrist injury. His future status is undetermined.
