Beau Mills of the Kinston Indians Helps Run Salem Avalanche Off Field, K-Tribe Takes 10-5 Win - Adv A, Carolina League
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 08:55AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The K-Tribes Beau Mills hit a grand slam and a two-run home run to help Kinston blowout Salem 10-5 Monday night in Virginia . Mills went 3-for-5 with six RBI and three runs scored. Jerad Head added a two-run home run in the victory. The power serge broke open a power slump by the K-Tribe. Kinston had hit just five home runs as a team before busting open for three on Monday night.
Mills broke a 2-2 tie with the grand slam to right field in the top of the second inning. Salem pulled within two runs, before Head hit his second home run of the season in the top of the sixth. Later in the inning Mills unloaded a two-run bomb to left field, his third home run of the season. Eric Stiller (1-0) picked up the win for the K-Tribe, throwing two plus innings of one hit ball out of the bullpen. Kinston newcomer Joanniel Montero made an impressive Carolina League debut, pitching the final three innings of the game. Montero allowed one run on three hits. Douglas Arguello (1-2) took the loss for Salem .
