Carlos Rosa Named Texas League Pitcher of the Week - AA, Texas League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Naturals ace right-hander Carlos Rosa has been named as Texas League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 27th, Texas League President Tom Kayser announced Monday morning. Midland RockHounds infielder Jesus Guzman was also given honors as Texas League Player of the Week.

Rosa , the 23-year old from San Francisco de Macoris, DR, started Friday night for the Naturals against the Arkansas Travelers and was brilliant, coming within nine outs of pitching the first no-hitter in Naturals history. Over eight innings of work, Rosa allowed just one hit, walked two batters, and fanned nine in the Naturals 3-0 victory over the Travelers, a win which began the Naturals current three-game winning streak.

Rosa is rated as the Kansas City Royals’ sixth-best prospect according to Baseball America . Thus far in 2008 he is 2-2 with a 1.61 ERA in five starts, trailing only San Antonio ’s Will Inman (1.05 ERA) for the best ERA amongst Texas League starters. With Rosa’s contributions leading the way, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals’ team ERA of 3.47 entering play Monday ranks first in the Texas League.
