Homecoming not So Sweet for Salem Avalanche as they Fall to Kinston Indians 10-4

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Salem, VA--The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, had their return home turn sour Monday night as Kinston’s Beau Mills drove six runs in and bashed two home runs in a 10-4 victory.
Kinston (7-14) launched three home runs against Salem (11-12) which fell under .500 for the first time this season.

With the score tied at two after one, the Indians opened the second with a single from Jerad Head.  Two batters later, Niuman Romero singled on the infield and John Drennen walked.  Next, Beau Mills launched a 2-1 pitch

over the right field wall against Douglas Arguello for a grand slam and a 6-2 Kinston lead.
Salem retorted with one out in the third as Jordan Parraz and Mark Ori went back-to-back with doubles to make the deficit three,  Immedately after, Jimmy Van Ostrand singled to center to drop the Kinston lead to two.
Kinston elongated the lead, though, with another four-run frame against Salem reliever Chris Salamida.  Jerad Head socked a two-run homer with nobody out.  Then, with two away and Jason Denham at first, Mills sent a
screamer out of the park to right for a 10-4.  Mills is the first player this season to hit two home runs against Salem in one game.
In the win, Kinston hit three of its eight home runs of the season.  For Salem Jordan Parraz finished the night 1-for-4 to prolong his on-base streak to 20 games to open the year,
Salem and Kinston play again Tuesday night at 7:07 PM as Salem righty Corey Bass faces Kinston’s Carlton Smith.
