Pacific Coast League Weekly Honors

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Pacific Coast League today announced Albuquerque outfielder Brett Carroll has been named its batter of the week, while Iowa pitcher Sean Gallagher earned pitcher of the week honors, for the week ending April 28th.

Carroll earned the award with a .500 (10-for-20) average for the week with four home runs and eight RBI and ten runs scored. The native of Knoxville, Tennessee and Isotopes outfielder John Gall are the first teammates to take PCL player of the week award honors in consecutive weeks since Albuquerque outfielders Joe Borchard and Reggie Abercrombie on August 20^th and 27^th in 2007. In his fifth season with the Marlins organization after being drafted out of Middle Tennessee State, Carroll is hitting .417 with eight home runs and 20 RBI for the season.

Gallagher made only one start during the week but it was impressive performance. The 6-2 right-hander tossed 7.2 innings, allowed one run on three hits, struck out twelve batters while walking just one. The Boston native is 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA and 25 strikeouts and only five walks in his fifth season after being drafted by the Cubs in the 12^th round of the 2004 draft out of St. Thomas Aquinas high school (Florida).
