Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and a Little MLB Help Beat Lancaster JetHawks 5-3 - Adv A, California League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - With Major Leaguer John Lackey on the mound, the Quakes jumped out early in the top of the second after a one out single by Drew Toussaint and walk to Larry Infante, Peter Bourjos singled up the middle to score to Toussaint to Rancho a 1-0 lead.

Lancaster would tie it in the bottom of the second against Lackey after a lead off walk and single, a g round out got runners to second and third and Zak Farkes hit a sacrifice fly to left to score a run to even the score 1-1.

Rancho powered back in the third with a lead off single by Brian Walker then Mark Trumbo blasted his 5th home run of the season off the scoreboard to lead 3-1. Wil Ortiz then followed with a single and with two outs, Larry Infante singled to left to scored Ortiz to give the Quakes a 4-1 lead.

There was a 25 minute delay after the third because of an electrical outage in the right field light standard. The delay ended the outing for Lackey after her went three innings allowing one run on one hit walked one and struck out two. He finished throwing on the game mound in a simulated game situation during the delay.

Rancho would get in the score column again in the 7th on an RBI triple by Bourjos down the right field line to score PJ Phillips to give the Quakes a 5-1 lead.

Sean O’Sullivan entered in the fourth and was very strong allowing just two runs in the bottom of the seventh on three straight hits to bring the score to 5-3.

Barret Browning came in the eighth and shut down Lancaster allowing just two hits in two innings of work while striking out three en route to picking up his third save of the season.

With the win, the Quakes snap their six game losing streak and will go for two in a row Wednesday with David Herndon on the mound against Travis Beazley.
