Dunedin Blue Jays Pound 17 Hits in 7-4 Win Over Fort Myers Miracle

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

DUNEDIN, F.L. (April 7, 2008) – On the only night where wet weather didn’t
interfere with baseball action, the Fort Myers Miracle may be wishing it
did as the Dunedin Blue Jays pounded out a season-high 17 hits in a 7-4
win. Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia led the way going a perfect 4-for-4 from
the plate with a double and three RBI as the Jays completed the three-game
sweep at Knology Park.

Things started off smoothly for the Miracle early on as a Danny Valencia
two-run double and RBI-single from Rene Tosoni quickly gave the good guys
a 3-0 lead. An inning later, Brian Dinkelman would deliver with a two-out
double to center giving the Miracle a 4-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Miracle
offense would stall once again as Dunedin scored seven unanswered runs the
rest of the way.

Arencibia put the Blue Jays on the board with his two-out single to center
in the third and contributed to the four-run barrage in the fifth. Dunedin
would use RBI-singles from Cory Patton and Arencibia to cash in on a pair

= of runs before a Miracle error and double play hit into by Brad Emaus
plated a couple more Blue Jay runs.

The final two runs came across for Dunedin in the seventh as Arencibia
struck again with a one-out double to center, later scoring on Jesus
Gonzalez’s triple to center. The Miracle did have the work cut out for
them on Monday night as three of Dunedin’s seven pitchers were on rehab
assignments from Toronto.

Gustavo Chacin, bouncing back from left shoulder surgery in August,
allowed all four Miracle runs on seven hits in his two-plus innings of
work. Jays closer B.J. Ryan, recovering from elbow surgery, sent the
Miracle three up, three down in the fourth. Armando Benitez worked a
perfect fifth with a pair of strike outs to round out appearances by big
leaguers on Monday night.

The six-game road trip continues on Tuesday night as the Miracle face the
Clearwater Threshers at 7:00 p.m. RHP Cole Devries (0-0, 27.00) will make
his first start of the season from Bright House Networks Field.
