Trenton Thunder Trounces Altoona Curve 5-1 - Eastern League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Altoona, PA -  LHP Chase Wright tossed five strong innings to lead the Thunder to a 5-1 victory over Altoona on Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark. It was Trenton's second straight win at Altoona, as the Thunder are now 4-17 in their last 21 games in Altoona.

Trenton (4-2) scored four runs in the 2nd inning and didn't look back. Altoona starting pitcher Kyle Bloom (0-2) walked the first two hitters of the inning. He then gave up an RBI double to 3B Marcos Vechionacci for the game's first run. 2B Reegie Corona followed Vechionacci and doubled down the right field line, driving home two more runs to increase the lead to 3-0. OF Jose Tabata picked up an RBI ground out to MLNGirlsFeb2008_Lisa.jpg

complete the scoring in the inning. Bloom went 4.2 IP and gave up five runs on seven hits. The Thunder would tally their final run in the 5th inning on an RBI single by OF Colin Curtis.
That was more than enough run support for the Thunder pitching staff. Wright (1-1) went five innings and gave up only three hits and one run. He struck out four and walked one. The one blemish for Wright was a solo home run by 3B Jason Bowers in the 2nd inning. Thunder reliever Steven Jackson went three perfect innings relieving Wright and struck out seven. Bo Hall pitched the 9th inning for the Thunder and gave up a solo home run to Altoona LF Jonel Pacheco.
The series will conclude on Wednesday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. RHP George Kontos (0-1, 3.00) will start for the Thunder against Altoona RHP Derek Hankins (0-0, 0.00)
