Fort Myers Miracle Game Highlights and Box Score - Adv A, Florida State League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Clearwater - 2  Fort Myers - 4  Box Score attached. - FORT MYERS, F.L. (April 28, 2008) – In the great game of baseball, there’s nothing like an off day followed by a lengthy home stand to get a ball club back on track. Thanks to a quick four-run first inning, the Fort Myers Miracle picked up their seventh-straight win at Hammond Stadium with a 4-2 victory over the Clearwater Threshers on Wednesday night. The Miracle also moved to 7-0 against Clearwater this season, finishing the month of April at 15-11.

Miracle lead-off man Brian Dinkelman started things off with an infield single, moving to second on the same play with a Welinson Baez throwing error from third. After Juan Portes walked, Danny Valencia lined a RBI-single to left for an early 1-0 lead. Two hitters later, Edward Ovalle would slice a single to right setting the stage for Wilson Ramos. One swing of Ramos’ bat cleared the bases with a double to the gap in right-center.

The Threshers pair of runs came around in the sixth as Matt Spencer began with a single to right, later scoring on Jake Blalock’s two-run blast to left, his first of the year. That was the only mishap of Miracle starter Cole Devries’ night. The right-hander picked up his second win of the season tossing 5.1 innings, allowing the two runs on seven hits, with a walk and six strikeouts. Anthony Slama worked a perfect final two frames, fanning four, for his fourth save of the year.

The Miracle also picked up their second-straight win against the Philadelphia Phillies first-round draft pick last year Joe Savery . Both of Savery’s losses have been against the Miracle as the southpaw surrendered the four runs on eight hits in his five innings of work.
