Lakewood BlueClaws Crush Kannapolis Intimidators - 10-1 - A, South Atlantic League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Derrick Mitchell led a rejuvenated offensive unit with a pair of home runs in a 10-1 thrashing of the Kannapolis Intimidators on Wednesday night at FirstEnergy Park.
Lakewood (13-13) put together a complete performance from a strong outing from Tyson Brummett to a top to bottom effort from the BlueClaws offense.
Eight of the nine starters managed at least one hit as the 'Claws nine-run win was the largest margin of victory this season.
Mitchell got the offense going with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off of Intimidators starter Nathan Jones. The BlueClaws second baseman added his second long ball of the season and the game in the eighth inning to push the lead to 10-0.
Jones (0-2) struggled to find his control from the get- go and when he did finally find the plate, the BlueClaws jumped all over him. The right-hander gave up three runs on five hits, while walking four in just 2 1/3 innings of work. He did strike out five in that span.
While Jones could not locate the zone, Brummett (3-0) never looked troubled against an Intimidators offense that ranks last in the South Atlantic League. The right- hander went six innings without allowing a run, striking out five while giving up three hits without walking a hitter.
Ben Pfinsgraff pitched a perfect seventh inning, before Walter Tejeda entered and gave up one run in two innings of relief.
Herman Demmink reached base five times in six trips to the plate in the leadoff spot. He scored four times and also drove in a run. Mitchell and Jesus Sanchez each scored twice.
Both Dominic Brown and Michael Taylor kept season- long home streaks alive. Brown went 1-for-3 with three walks and has now reached safely in every home game this season, while Taylor managed two hits and an RBI and has now recorded a hit in all 14 games at FirstEnergy Park
