Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 08:39AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - CORPUS CHRISTI – Chance Douglass became the winningest pitcher in Corpus Christi history with his 16th victory and Billy Hart drove in four runs as the Hooks pounded Frisco 16-3 Friday night.
Corpus Christi is 20-15, 3 ½ games behind the 23-11 RoughRiders in the Texas League South.
Douglass (3-2) allowed three runs, seven hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out one.
Frisco had Douglass on the ropes in the first. Elvis Andrus’ one-out walk and singles by Max Ramirez and Chris Davis gave Frisco a 1-0 advantage. After Dustin Majewski drew a base on balls to load the sacks, Douglass coaxed a 5-4-3 double play ball from Ben Harrison to escape further damage.

ADVERTISEMENT Michael Ballard (2-2) wasn’t as fortunate in the home half. Hart stroked a two-out, three-run double to left-center. His hit cleared Wladimir Sutil, Ray Sadler and Ole Sheldon off the bases. Sutil and Sadler singled ahead of Sheldon’s walk.
In the second, Emerson Frostad’s fourth home run of 2008 narrowed the Hooks’ lead to 3-2.
Corpus Christi exploded for seven runs on seven hits an inning later, sending Ballard to the showers in the process. The Hooks’ most productive frame of the season featured a team cycle. Sutil began the onslaught with a double and Hart and Eli Iorg contributed two-base hits as well. Sheldon had an RBI triple and Drew Sutton punctuated the attack with a two-run bomb over the fence in left.
Corpus Christi scored twice in the fourth for a 10-run cushion at 12-2 as Sheldon doubled and Hart, Chris Johnson and Lou Santangelo singled.
Sheldon, who smacked a sixth-inning solo homer, fell a single shy of the cycle.
Mitch Einertson extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single in the seventh. He was the ninth and final Hooks starter to hit safely.
Sutil, the Hooks’ backup shortstop, had four hits and Ryan Thompson struck out four in two scoreless innings.
Frisco’s Jake Dittler (1-1) faces Brad James (3-2) in the series finale Saturday at 7:05.
