Colorado Springs Sky Sox Fall to Albuquerque Isotopes 6-1 - PCL
Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 11:35AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The Sky Sox had their chances but couldn’t quite capitalize as Frankie De La Cruz and Albuquerque took the first game of a four-game set at Security Service Field Friday night, 6-1 in front of 5,348 fans.
Joe Koshansky came to the plate in the first inning with two outs and the bases loaded. The Sox slugging first baseman was unable to plate any runs, lining out to second and keeping the game at 1-0 in favor of the Isotopes.
The Sky Sox had another opportunity to get on the board in the second inning when consecutive two-out hits by Josh Towers and Chris Frey brought Sean Barker to the plate with runners on second and third. Barker’s strikeout ended the threat, and the Sky Sox would put just two more runners in scoring position the rest of the game.

Towers (3-3) had a rough go of things early in the ball game. The veteran starting pitcher allowed five runs in his first three innings of work. He did settle down, allowing just one more run in seven total innings. He struck out six batters while walking just one. He also hit two batters.
De La Cruz (5-1) picked up his fifth consecutive victory after pitching seven innings of one-run baseball.
