Avalanche/Warthogs Game Notes - Adv A, Carolina League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Bests: Salem catcher Koby Clemens totaled four RBI last night against Winston-Salem, the greatest number
of teammates driven in this season for an Avalanche
player in a single game. His three hits and two runs
also tied a season high. Meanwhile, Orlando Rosales
finished the night with three hits, a season superlative
for the right fielder.

Elsewhere in the lineup, Jordan
Parraz doubled twice for the first time in a given game
in 2008. In addition, Jimmy Van Ostrand walked twice
and scored twice for the first time each in a Salem jersey.

At its end: Avalanche shortstop Tim Torres did not
notch a hit Friday to push end his hit streak at nine
games. It’s the longest chain for a Salem player this
season.

But not forgotten: Koby Clemens’ seventh-inning home
run was the backstop’s second of the season. It was
the first Salem home run in two weeks. The last ball
that left the park off of an Avalanche bat was a gamewinner
Jordan Parraz hit in the 10th inning of the game
at Myrtle Beach on April 25th. Opponents hit 13 home
runs against the Avs in the span between longballs.

Boom go the Warthogs: The Avalanche’s winning totals
against Winston-Salem this year stand at 10, 8 and 10
for an average of 9.33 per game. For 2008 overall, Salem
is averaging 4.54 runs a contest.
