Lancaster JetHawks Suffer Big Loss to Inland Empire 66ers 25-1

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - (LANCASTER, CA) – An ugly game turned an entirely different shade late in Saturday’s contest between Lancaster and Inland Empire.  Already down 15-0 in the ninth, the 66ers poured it on against JetHawks position players trying to pitch, adding ten more runs to the scoreboard and leading to a 25-1 win.

The 66ers scored early and often against a series of JetHawks pitchers.  Inland Empire roughed up starter Jaymie Russ for nine runs in the first two innings, effectively ending the game early.  Meanwhile, 66ers starter Cody White held the JetHawks in check with just one hit in the first five innings.

Trailing 15-0, Lancaster brought infielder Luis Segovia into the game to pitch in the eighth inning.  Segovia got the first batter he faced, Drew Locke, to ground into a double play, but the ninth inning sent the game spiraling away.  Inland Empire tallied ten runs and seven hits in the inning.

Chih-Hsien Chiang hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to keep the JetHawks from getting shut out.  The hit extended Chiang’s hitting streak to seven consecutive games.
