New Britain Rock Cats Get Hissed at by New Hampshire Fisher Cats who Lose 7-4 - AA, Eastern League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Manchester, NH - Anthony Hatch belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull New Hampshire within 4-3, but New Britain prevailed, 7-4, before 4,729 on Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

 

Hatch's home run, his club-leading fifth of the season, came off New Britain starter Ryan Mullins (3-2).  Mullins worked six innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. 

 

New Britain (20-15) opened the scoring in the top of the third inning against New Hampshire losing pitcher A. J. Wideman (1-5).  Toby Gardenhire doubled, Felix Molina walked, and Steven Tolleson (2-for-5, HR, 4 RBI, 2B, 2 R) hit a three-run homer to make it 3-0.

 

New Hampshire (12-23) got a run back in the bottom of the third inning.  After two were out, Aaron Mathews (1-for-5, 2B) doubled and scored on a single by Chris Gutierrez (2-for-4, RBI, 2B, BB).

 

David Winfree (2-for-4, RBI, 2B) doubled to lead off the Rock Cats fourth inning, went to third on an single by Erik Lis and scored on a fielders choice groundout by Felix Molina (1-for-3, RBI, 2R) to make it 4-1 in favor of New Britain.

 

Hatch's home run followed a single by Ryan Patterson (2-for-5, 2B, R) in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 4-3.

 

New Britain's Molina doubled with one out in the top of the sixth inning, knocking Wideman out of the game.  Jeff Christy (1-for-3, RBI) followed with a double off reliever Sean Stidfole.  Tolleson then singled home Christy to make it 6-3.  The Rock Cats added a third run in the frame on an error by shortstop Ryan Klosterman.

 

Daryl Harang threw three perfect innings in relief for the Fisher Cats, retiring all nine batters he faced.

 

In the last of the ninth inning against Ben Julianel, Gutierrez doubled and scored on a single by Jacob Butler.  Travis Snider (2-for-5) then followed with a single, but Julianel got Patterson to fly out to centefield to end the game.
