Bowie Baysox Walkoff HR Gives them a 5-3 Victory Over Erie SeaWolves in 10th - AA, Eastern League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The SeaWolves dropped their eighth straight ballgame on Tuesday night on a walkoff home run in the bottom of the 10th inning at Prince George’s Stadium against the Bowie Baysox.

The ‘Wolves broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning with two outs when Dusty Ryan connected on an opposite field home run, his sixth, for a 1-0 lead.

The Baysox responded against Erie starter Danny Christensen in the bottom of the sixth. Christensen tossed five scoreless and had retired six straight heading into the inning, but gave up back-to-back walks to Jonathan Tucker and Carlos Rojas to begin the inning. After retiring the next two, Nolan Reimold doubled home Tucker, tying the game at 1-1. Ryan Finan followed with a two-run double to give the Baysox a 3-1 lead.

The ‘Wolves cut into the lead in the top of the seventh when Ryan Roberson led off and connected on his fifth home run of the season. The solo shot over the centerfield wall made it 3-2 Baysox.

In the top of the ninth, Bowie closer Julio Manon retired the first hitter of the inning but Jeff Frazier stepped in and connected on his fourth home run of the season to tie the game at 3-3.

In the bottom of the ninth, Reimold and Finan reached on back-to-back errors against reliever Danny Zell. Zell then intentionally walked Brian Peterson to load the bases with no outs. Kennard Jones hit into a 3-2 fielder’s choice for the first out of the inning. Zell struck out Blake Davis for the second out. The ‘Wolves made a second call to the bullpen to bring in Anthony Tomey. Tucker stepped in and sent a liner to right field in what looked to be the game winner for Bowie. Deik Scram, however, made a full-extension dive on the ball to save the game and send it to the 10th.

In the top of the 10th, Ramirez singled with one out. With Scram batting, Ramirez stole second and got to third on an error. A second intentional walk to Scram was issued to put runners on the corners for Ryan. Scram stole second to put a pair in scoring position, however, reliever Jason Burch retired Ryan and Justin Justice to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 10th, Rojas led off with a walk. After Tomey retired the next two batters, Reimold stepped in and connected on a game-winning home run to center for a 5-3 Bowie victory.

Christensen took a no-decision for the ‘Wolves. He went 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
