Harrisburg Senators Game Highlights and Box Score for 5/13/08 - AA, Eastern League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Reading - 3  Harrisburg - 2  Box Score attached. - Harrisburg, PA - 1B Dmitri Young, C Luke Montz and RHP Levale Speigner all returned from injuries for the Harrisburg Senators Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park, but it wasn’t enough. The Senators fell to the Reading Phillies, 3-2 as the Phillies tallied the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th.

Both teams played the home run ball into a 2-2 tie early in the game. Reading’s Jeremy Slayden blasted a
two-run homer in the top of the 2nd off Harrisburg starter Tristan Crawford to make it 2-0.

The Senators took advantage of a Reading error in the bottom of the 3rd. Crawford reached on an error and
Justin Maxwell followed with a two-run moonshot to left-center to tie it at 2-2.

After that, Crawford and Reading starter Antonio Bastardo dueled to keep the game tied. Crawford went
six innings allowed two runs on six hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Bastardo went seven innings, allowing two
runs (one earned) on four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

Both teams threatened throughout the game, but failed to score. Roger Bernadina took away extra bases
with a diving catch in the right-center field gap. Levale Speigner induced a bases-loaded double play in the top
of the 7th to preserve the tie. The Senators loaded the bases in the bottom of the 8th but couldn’t push a run
across.

In the top of the 9th, Javon Moran led off with a single. With Moran off with the pitch, Jason Donald
hammered a double down the left-field line to plate the go-ahead run. It was the first run allowed after 17.2
scoreless frames for Harrisburg RHP Zech Zinicola.

Reading closer Pat Overholt came on and worked a 1-2-3 9th inning to collect his ninth save of the season.
Jason Kershner picked up the win to improve to 2-1. Zinicola absorbed the loss and dropped to 1-1.

Harrisburg fell to 23-14. It was their first loss in a series opener this year; the Senators are now 11-1 in
series openers this year and have lost four home games in a row. The Phillies upped their record to 18-19.
