Colorado Springs Sky Sox Oust Albuquerque Isotopes 9-6

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - John Koronka stayed unbeaten, and Colorado Springs defeated Albuquerque, 9-6, Tuesday evening at Security Service Field.

Koronka (4-0) tossed a season-high eight innings for the Sky Sox, allowing four runs on ten hits. Despite allowing at least one base runner in each of his eight innings, Koronka managed to stay out of trouble with exception to a three-run fifth inning from Albuquerque. The veteran lefty allowed just one Isotope base runner into scoring position during the other seven innings.

While Koronka was keeping the Isotopes at bay, the Sky Sox hitters were raking Albuquerque starting pitcher Steve Woodard (0-1) to the tune of six runs on nine MLNGirlsFeb2008_Lisa.jpg

hits in just 2.1 innings.

Colorado Springs broke the game open with a four-run third inning that chased Woodard from the game. Nix, Seth Smith, Ian Stewart and Christian Colonel would all come around to score after opening the inning with four consecutive hits.

Smith would add his fourth home run in the sixth inning off relief pitcher Marco Carvajal.

The Sky Sox have the day off Wednesday before opening a four-game set in Fresno on Thursday. Cedrick Bowers (1-1, 3.85) will make his second start of the season for Colorado Springs with Nick Pereira (3-3, 4.24) getting the call for the Grizzlies.
