Frederick Keys Finally on Winning End of Close Game with 3-2 Victory Over the Salem Avalanche

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Trailing by one run with two outs in the ninth inning the Keys seemed destined to lose another close game. The Keys had dropped six consecutive games decided by two runs or less. But this time Frederick wrote a different script. Pinch hitter Brandon Tripp kept the game alive with a single and went to second on a passed ball. The Brandon Snyder came up in a pinch hit situation a tripled to centerfield before he would score on a wild pitch in an improbable come from behind 3-2 Keys win.

It is the first time in 12 tries that the Keys have won a game they trailed after seven innings.

Keys starter Jake Renshaw was solid again, working 5 and 2/3rd innings while allowing just a run but left with the game tied at 1-1. Renshaw was attempting to be the first Carolina League pitcher to register six wins.

But it was reliever Ryan Ouellette, who has suffered through tough late inning defeats who was atop the hill for the Keys comeback. After keeping Frederick within one with a scoreless eighth inning, Ouellette (1-3) worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to cement the dramatic victory.

The Keys close the series, roadtrip and stretch of 14-of-17 games on the road Thursday night at 7:07 p.m. in Salem.
