Great Pitching, No Offense Equal Lancaster JetHawks 2-0 Loss to Visalia Oaks - Adv A, California League
Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 10:59AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - ( VISALIA , CA ) – The JetHawks got a tremendous pitching performance from starting pitcher Chris Jones, but the offense wasn’t able to back it up. Jones retired nineteen of the twenty batters he faced, however he came out in a scoreless game and took a no-decision as the Oaks came up with a pair of late runs to beat the JetHawks 2-0.
Jones surrendered only a double in the first inning, setting down each of the other batters he saw over six shutout innings. Jason Blackey hurled a scoreless inning of relief before allowing the Oaks’ two runs in the eighth inning.
Lancaster ’s best scoring chance came in the second inning. Jon Still and Josh Reddick opened the frame with singles, but a ground out and a double-play ended the inning. Zak Farkes reached third base on a walk and a pair of ground balls in the third inning, but was left stranded.
Still had two singles for Lancaster . Reddick extended his hitting streak to four straight with his single in the second inning.
