That was all the Senators would get off Reading starter Kip Bouknight, as he pitched six innings and allowed the one unearned run on four hits and a walk.
Harrisburg struck for two more runs in the 7th inning against LHP Fabio Castro. Bernadina tripled to start the inning, then Castro walked the next two batters to load the bases. Ian Desmond worked a third consecutive walk to plate a run and make it 2-0. Two batters later, Mike Daniel lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Bernadina and make it 3-0; meanwhile a Senators runner was hung up between second and third to end the inning.
Martis picked up the win to move to 3-1 while Bouknight, a former Senator, dropped to 3-4. Josh Perrault and Steve Schmoll delivered two scoreless relief innings each, with Schmoll notching his second save of the year.
Harrisburg is back to ten games over .500 at 24-14. The Phillies are 18-20 with the loss. It was the second shutout win of the year for the Senators.
The rubber match of the series is set for Thursday at 12:05 PM. RHP Marco Estrada takes the start for Harrisburg against Reading RHP Carlos Carrasco.
