Inland Empire 66ers End Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Good Time, Win 7-6 - Adv A, California League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The Quakes got off to a great start Wednesday night with a little two out magic from the middle of the order. Peter Bourjos tripled to left center, Mark Trumbo singled to left to score Bourjos and Brian Walker doubled to right center to score Trumbo from first to take a 2-0 lead.

In the 6th, Rancho added three more after Bourjos and Trumbo singled, Walker doubled to left center and scored Bourjos and out runners on second and third. After PJ Phillips grounded out, Larry Infante singled to center to score both runners and give the Quakes a 5-0 advantage.

The 66ers answered the call in the bottom of the sixth. After Amalio Diaz went five strong allowing no runs on two hits, Diaz allowed a lead off single and a walk before giving up a two run triple to Matt Berezay to make it 5-2. Tommy Giles followed with a sacrifice fly to bring the 66ers within two runs. After a Josh Bell walked, Diaz was lifted for Felipe Arredondo gave up an RBI double to Carlos Santana to score Bell to put the tying run at second. Eduardo Perez then grounded out for the second out of the inning putting Santana at third. Christian Lara who was 0x23 prior to the at-bat singled to right to tie the game 5-5.

In the seventh with Arredondo still on the mound, he allowed a single and a double before being taken out for Marco Albano. On the second pitch thrown by Albano to Giles, Giles slapped a double down the right field line to score both runners and take a 7-5 lead.

Rancho had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the seventh and couldn’t score but plated one in the eighth on a two out bases loaded walk to Abel Nieves to cut it to 7-6, but couldn’t get any closer.
