Moran hit .400 in 7 games, leading the organization with 12 hits and 5 stolen bases. Had back-to-back 4-hit games on Saturday and Sunday (8 straight hits). He’s hitting .442 in 10 games this month, including 5 multi-hit games. For the season, Moran is batting .282. The 25-year-old was originally selected in the 4th round of the 2003 draft out of Auburn University.
Overholt was 0-0 with 1 save in 2 appearances as the closer. He didn’t allow a hit, run or walk in 4 innings, while striking out 2, stretching his scoreless appearances to 9 (11.2 innings). For the season, he is 1-0 with 8 saves in 14 games; he’s allowed just 6 hits in 18.2 innings. The only game in which he was scored upon was April 15 against Harris burg. His 0.96 ERA is lowest among Eastern League relievers and his .095 average against is second among all minor league relievers and lowest in AA ball. The 24-year-old was a 22nd round selection in 2005 out of Santa Clara University.
Reading LHP Fabio Castro (4/3-13 & 4/14-20), RF Jeremy Slayden (4/21-27) and C Lou Marson (4/28-5/4) have also been honored this season.
Trade winds blowing
The Phillies have traded C Tim Gradoville to the Texas Rangers organization for
future considerations. Gradoville began the season in Reading as a player/coach. He was sent to Lehigh Valley on April 19 and activated to play. He re-joined the R-Phils yesterday and was inactive as a player.
The Phillies received IF Mike Rouse from the Chicago White Sox to complete the May 7 trade for IF Gookie Dawkins. Rouse joined Lehigh Valley (AAA) on May 9.
