Syracuse Chiefs Triple the Tally of the Charlotte Knights in 18-6 Thrashing

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – FORT MILL, S.C.  – May 14, 2008 – It wasn’t a pretty game at Knights Stadium as the Knights were 18-6 losers to the visiting Syracuse Chiefs.  It started out as a good game for the Knights as they had a four run lead entering the 6th inning.  Then the floodgates opened.

The Chiefs got all over Charlotte pitching as they scored 7 runs in the 6th inning and 9 runs in the 7th inning.  Every player starting player on Syracuse scored a run and all but one got an RBI.  Charlotte pitching allowed 17 hits.  The 18 runs were the most runs the Knights have allowed in a game since 2004 when they allowed 20.

Knights outfielder Thomas Collaro and second baseman Chris Getz each hit a home run for the second straight game.  Brad Eldred went 2 for 5 to hit safely for the 5th straight game.

The Knights and Chiefs resume their series tomorrow at 7:15 pm.  LHP David Purcey (3-3, 2.22 ERA) will start for Syracuse, RHP Lance Broadway (5-1, 1.13 ERA) goes for Charlotte.
