Toledo Mud Hens Lay Eggs Against Durham Bulls in 14-4 Loss

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Durham, NC—The Bulls offense came alive in a big way Wednesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park as Durham overcame a three-run deficit with 13 runs after the fifth inning to pound the Mud Hens, 14-4.

With the score holding at 4-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, Dan Johnson hit a solo home run to cut into Toledo’s lead. Then the Bulls pounded Francis Beltran (1-2, 11.00) and Matt Rusch for six runs, with neither hurler managing to record an out before departing. Durham would tag Anastacio Martinez for another six in the eighth before completing the onslaught.

SeatSub Challenge 2008 Contest Jeff Bannon, playing in his first game for Durham since being assigned to Hudson Valley over two weeks ago, blasted two home runs—a solo shot in the seventh and a three-run bomb in the eighth—to go 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four batted in. Reid Brignac drove in another three, and Justin Ruggiano, Chris Richard and Johnson each had a pair of RBI.

Nick DeBarr (3-0, 2.30) earned the win in relief for Durham, pitching 2.2 perfect innings while striking out three Mud Hens.
