Indianapolis Indians Defeat Richmond Braves 5-4, John Van Benschoten Picks Up Win - International League

Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Indians beat the Richmond Braves 5-4 Friday at Victory Field.  The Indians erupted for four runs in the third inning to gain a split of the four game series.
 
MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the first when Jack Wilson scampered home on a passed ball.  The Braves scored twice in the third to grab the lead thanks to RBI singles by Josh Anderson and Scott Thorman.  The Indians responded with a four run outburst in the home half.  Jack Wilson, Andrew McCutchen, Craig Wilson, and Neil Walker all knocked in runs with singles.  Thorman drilled a home run in the sixth to trim the Indians lead to 5-3.  The Braves pulled to within a run in the eighth on an RBI double by Barbaro Canizares.
 
John Van Benschoten earned the win.  Jesse Chavez collected a save.  Matt DeSalvo took the loss.  Thorman had three hits for the Braves.  Walker, Jack Wilson, Nyjer Morgan, and Matt Kata had two hits each for the Indians.
