Here’s a look at how the Angels’ farm system fared in yesterday’s action:
The Salt Lake Bees gave up seven runs in the first three innings of a 7-4 loss to the Sacramento River Cats (Oakland affiliate). RHP Nick Green (3-1), in his shortest outing of the season, gave up all seven runs on seven hits in just three innings. The Salt Lake bullpen of RHP Giancarlo Alvarado, RHP Matt Wilhite and RHP Henry Bonilla combined on five scoreless relief innings. 1B Kendry Morales and C Bobby Wilson each had two hits.
ARKANSAS TRAVELERS (Class AA) - Texas League - Record 19-22, 2nd
The Arkansas Travelers won their sixth straight game and scored a season-high 11 runs in an 11-4 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City affiliate). The Travelers amassed 13 hits, including three home runs. 1B Michael Collins went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a home run and four RBI. 2B Nate Sutton and 3B Adam Morrissey also homered. LHP Doug Brandt (1-1) got the win in relief, pitching two scoreless relief innings.
RANCHO CUCAMONGA QUAKES (Class A) - California League - Record 16-26, 4th
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes lost their third straight game, falling 13-5 to the Inland Empire 66ers (Dodgers’ affiliate). Five Quakes’ pitchers gave up 14 hits, with RHP Sammy Leon (1-1) taking the loss in relief. DH Abel Nieves and SS P.J. Phillips each had three hits. Phillips finished with a double, triple and home run, falling a single shy of hitting for cycle. CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS (Class A) - Midwest League - Record 18-22, 5th
The Cedar Rapids Kernels suffered a 7-6 loss in 10 innings to the Clinton Lumberkings (Texas affiliate). It was the Kernels’ third straight loss. LHP Trevor Reckling started and allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits in six innings. RHP Ryan Brasier (0-3) took the loss in the 10th, giving up a run on three hits. 1B Efren Navarro, LF Jeremy Moore and RF Julio Perez hit home runs to lead the Kernels offensively..
